DAPHNE GUINNESS in Alexander McQueen at Barney’s and the Met Gala

Last night, fashion-icon Daphne Guinness woooooed crowds by getting changed in the window of Barney’s New York for all to see. This ‘art installation’ took place on 61st Street and Madison Ave before the Met Gala. She changed into an iconic Alexander McQueen duck and ostrich feathered Gown as crowds watched through the famous storefront. McQueen was later honoured at the event.

There were rumours she would appear naked but she had previously told the New York Times “I am not doing a burlesque – no way. I’m going to be getting dressed behind something. I’m not Dita Von Teese, nor shall I be.”

Daphne’s performance helped launch her collaboration with Barney’s, where she has hand-picked 26 looks from her own archives and from the collection of Isabella Blow (which she famously acquired back in 2010). Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow were both good friends of Daphne’s and this serves as an honourable tribute. Stunning.

That photo isn’t from the 2012; it’s from the 2011 met gala where they show cased Mcqueen’s work with the “Savage Beauty” exhibition.
